Bio/Statement
I am an artist who uses various natural materials to create work that celebrates the organic unity of all living things. In these unprecedented times, my work reflects on our connection to nature, land, and animals. I use an armature of minimalist and architectural austerity using a line, grid, and repetition to suggest land, body, and the character of animals. Looking, collecting, touching, and repurposing natural materials are integral to the process of creating my work. Minimalist structures and an abstract vocabulary lend my work a historical context within the lineage of Eva Hesse, Sol Lewitt, Agnes Martin, and Leonora Tawney.
My art has been exhibited across the United States and I have taught drawing, watercolor, process media, and methods. My travels have included studies at the Glasgow School of Art, Parsons, San Francisco Art Institute, as well as teaching a field studies seminar in Italy’s Veneto region. I earned an MFA in Studio Arts from JFK University in Berkeley and a second master's degree in Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon, as well as, an associate degree in Interior Design from Mt. Royal University. Born and raised in Canada, I live and work in Eugene, Oregon.
